Paddington Street, Paddington

Prior to the work being carried out on this classic Paddington building the narrow house was dark, damp and confined. The alterations enabled the living areas to be opened out, focusing on bringing in light and ventilation. This was attained through new internal stairs, which filter light through the three levels. The Living areas feature a new galley kitchen and pantry.

Bedrooms were replanned and bathrooms all totally refurbished. A new attic study was incorporated into the roof with a dormer window to the view. The lower level addition and alterations created a welcoming light-filled family room, laundry, bathroom and wine store. Storage was of great importance for the owners and was achieved through custom joinery items including cupboards that form part of the stair.

Ecologically sustainable design features include the specification of non-toxic paints, recycled hardwood, natural fibre carpets and passive solar design. These conscious design considerations ensured the family home was both enjoyable to live in while being mindful of occupant’s health and environmental wellbeing.
